Vidic Reveals Dressing Room Bust-Up with Man United Legend
Nemanja Vidic Reveals One Dressing Room Bust-Up During His Time at Manchester United
Legendary Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has shared that he experienced only one confrontation with a teammate in the dressing room throughout his successful eight-year spell at Old Trafford. During his tenure, Vidic was renowned for his tough, no-nonsense attitude, helping United secure five Premier League titles and a Champions League victory.
Despite his reputation as a fierce competitor, Vidic indicates that his only altercation was with fellow midfielder Anderson. Speaking on a football podcast, he explained, “At Manchester United, I had one bust-up in the changing room, and that was with Anderson.” He described the incident as a on-field disagreement that spilled over into the dressing room but emphasized it was no big deal.
Interestingly, fans might assume Vidic is referring to his well-documented falling-out with Patrice Evra, but that was not the case. Evra has previously revealed they didn’t speak for three months after a heated argument, which even prompted Sir Alex Ferguson to switch Rio Ferdinand to the left side of the defense to separate them. Vidic and Evra’s conflict was characterized by intense moments but eventually resolved, with Evra recalling their reconciliation as a significant moment in their friendship.
Vidic recalls tensions with Evra contributed to a bigger fallout after Ferguson’s departure, notably during a 3-0 loss to Liverpool under David Moyes, where Vidic was sent off and accused Evra of neglecting his defensive duties. The incident caused a scene at the training ground, with Moyes and staff needing to intervene to keep the situation in check.
Looking ahead, Vidic, now 43, expressed his desire to remain involved in football, contemplating roles like coaching or sporting director. He also mentioned a possibility of returning to manage Manchester United, citing his passion for transforming challenging situations into successes. He even joked about potentially becoming the Serbian FA President, an idea he previously considered but has yet to pursue.
