Tupac’s Family and Friends Smoked His Ashes Hours After D:ea:th, Claims Suge Knight
Claims of Tupac Shakur’s Ashes Being Smoked by Close Friends
According to a recent interview, close friends and family of Tupac Shakur reportedly rolled the rapper’s cremated remains into a blunt and smoked it shortly after his death.
One of Tupac’s friends, Suge Knight, who was the CEO of Death Row Records at the time, revealed that he paid $1 million in cash to have Tupac cremated immediately. He explained that the rapid cremation was partly driven by fears of Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, insisting on the quick disposal of his body.
“A bag containing his ashes was passed around,” Knight recounted, “and his close friends rolled him up and smoked him.”
Knight explained that he decided against participating in the ritual, citing his probation status: “I was so glad I couldn’t smoke because I told his mother I’d love to, but I’d get in trouble, so I didn’t partake.”
He shared that Tupac had previously expressed a desire not to be cremated, preferring a funeral where rappers could pay tribute. “He wanted every rapper at his funeral to grab the mic, kiss him from head to toe, just like in his song ‘Life Goes On,’” Knight said.
Knight recounted that after telling his mother he was hesitant, she urged him to proceed immediately, saying, “Get it done. Now.” Despite his own reservations, Knight paid the equivalent of a million dollars in cash to ensure the cremation, as Tupac’s mother demanded.
He added that Tupac had expressed a wish not to be cremated, emphasizing the symbolic importance of keeping a part of him — a reason he found the ritual meaningful, in a way.
