Shoeless Maniac Attacks Pedestrians in Upscale NYC Neighborhood!

Violent Incident in Chelsea Involving Unarmed Attacker

A disturbing series of assaults occurred in Chelsea on a recent Wednesday morning, where a man with no shoes carried out a random spree of violence against pedestrians and police officers. Witnesses describe the attacker as highly unpredictable and emotionally disturbed.

At around 9:20 a.m., the attacker punched a photographer and artist, Jose Castillo, as he was walking along West 26th Street and Seventh Avenue. Castillo, a 12-year New Yorker with a studio in SoHo, recalled being struck unexpectedly while passing a man who had been asking passersby for money. The punch knocked him to the ground but he was able to get up and alert authorities.

While Castillo was speaking with emergency dispatchers, he observed the attacker assaulting a teenage girl, a tourist visiting with her mother. Castillo described seeing him strike her in the face, leaving the girl visibly distraught. Both mother and daughter left the scene before police arrived.

The suspect then approached two young children, reportedly middle school students, and slapped one on the back of the head when they ignored him. As officers responded, the man became aggressive toward them, punching a male officer in the face and spat on a female officer. A third officer sustained a shoulder injury while trying to subdue him.

The individual, estimated to be in his mid-40s and wearing only socks, was described as about 5’7″ and surprisingly strong for his slender frame. He remained mostly silent, threatening and getting close to pedestrians, according to witnesses. Following his violent outbursts, he was taken to Bellevue Hospital for evaluation while police charged him with multiple assaults. His identity remains unknown, and he is being held as a “John Doe.”

Castillo sustained minor injuries, including possible dental trauma, and plans to seek further medical assessment. The officers involved are reported to be in stable condition. Castillo expressed concern over such incidents, emphasizing that these random attacks are unacceptable and highlighting the importance of supportive measures for those experiencing mental health crises.
