Jobe Bellingham Banned After Clash with Brother Jude, England Boss Reveals Family Drama
Bellingham Suspended for Borussia Dortmund’s Club World Cup Match Against Real Madrid
The eagerly awaited clash between Jude and Jobe Bellingham will not happen this time, as Jobe has been suspended for Borussia Dortmund’s upcoming quarter-final at the Club World Cup.
Initially, there was excitement about the possibility of the brothers facing each other in the knockout stage, with both playing in their respective matches. Jude Bellingham helped Real Madrid secure a 1-0 win over Juventus, while Jobe contributed to Dortmund’s 2-1 victory over Monterrey.
However, Jobe earned a suspension due to an unnecessary challenge during Dortmund’s match. He received a yellow card for a tackle on Monterrey’s Nelson Deossa, despite Dortmund leading 2-0 at the time, and was subsequently booked again in the first half. This second booking results in an automatic one-game ban under tournament rules.
Dortmund’s coach, Niko Kovac, expressed disappointment about Jobe’s absence, stating that the suspension surprised the young midfielder, especially since the second yellow was not anticipated at halftime. Kovac mentioned that Jobe was very disappointed about missing the opportunity to face his brother, Jude, and that they might meet in future tournaments such as the Champions League.
Jobe was substituted in the 55th minute of the last-16 match to prevent further disciplinary issues. Kovac explained that the substitution was strategic, aiming to avoid a second yellow card during intense duels.
This suspension coincides with ongoing concerns over Jude Bellingham’s on-field behavior. Critics have noted his aggressive style, with England manager Thomas Tuchel commenting that Bellingham’s conduct—such as chasing the referee and reacting emotionally—can be intimidating for teammates and is often viewed negatively.
Tuchel highlighted that Bellingham’s aggressive demeanor has attracted scrutiny, including previous incidents like his frustration after a disallowed goal against Senegal, and a two-match ban for swearing at a referee during a La Liga game.
Despite disciplinary issues, Jude remains a key player, with his performance and attitude continuing to be under close observation.
