Dallas Mayor Invites Concerned New Yorkers to Move to Texas Over Mamdani

Dallas Mayor Invites Concerned New Yorkers to Relocate

The mayor of Dallas has extended an open invitation for residents and business owners from New York City to consider moving to Dallas following the primary victory of Zohran Mamdani, a socialist candidate.

In a public message, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson encouraged New Yorkers to escape what he described as a challenging environment, emphasizing that Dallas supports law enforcement, values its business community, champions free-market policies, opposes excessive regulation, and aims to safeguard the American Dream. Johnson, who changed his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican in 2023, highlighted an article pointing out how the financial sector is distressed by the prospect of Mamdani, who has expressed socialist views, potentially becoming New York City’s next mayor.

Shortly after Mamdani’s win in the primary, luxury real estate brokers reported an influx of inquiries from wealthy clients eager to pull out of property deals in New York City, signifying a possible exodus of affluent residents.

Mamdani, age 33, has promised to help lower living costs in New York by offering free public transportation, city college tuition, child care, and rent caps. He proposed opening city-controlled grocery stores to reduce prices and has called for higher taxes on the wealthy. His rhetoric has also included anti-police sentiments, and he refused to condemn a phrase seen as supportive of anti-Jewish violence, which has raised concerns.

Recently, Mamdani committed to increasing property taxes in affluent neighborhoods and has called for the abolition of billionaires, positioning himself as a radical reformer with policies aligned with the far-left political spectrum.
