Tr:um:p Slams GOP Senator Thom Tillis Over Stalled ‘Big Beautiful Bill’—See Why He Calls It a ‘BIG MISTAKE’!

President Trump Criticizes Senator Thom Tillis Over Tax Bill Vote

President Donald Trump publicly condemned North Carolina GOP Senator Thom Tillis after he voted against advancing a significant tax and spending legislation. The Senate’s procedural vote to move the multi-trillion dollar bill forward faced a deadlock, with support still unconfirmed.

Trump took to social media to argue that Tillis’s vote was a mistake, claiming it would result in a tax increase for Americans, contradicting efforts for tax reductions. He emphasized the bill’s benefits, including no taxes on tips, overtime, and social security, as well as stronger border security and military, supporting farmers, manufacturers, and employment.

Trump argued that Tillis’s opposition harms America and the people of North Carolina. The president has urged Republican leaders to expedite the legislation, aiming for it to reach his desk by July 4.

While the final vote tally remains unofficial, two other Republican senators, Ron Johnson and Rand Paul, also opposed the bill in this rare weekend session. However, Trump singled out Tillis for criticism, calling his decision a “BIG MISTAKE.”

With a narrow 53-47 Republican majority, only three defections are allowed for legislation to pass. Vice President Vance has been on standby to cast the tiebreaker if necessary. If approved, the bill would make Trump’s 2017 tax cuts permanent, eliminate taxes on tips and overtime, and increase border security funding, while removing certain green-energy tax credits.

The legislation also requires raising the debt ceiling by approximately $5 trillion to accommodate its provisions. Despite previously stating he would oppose the bill without modifications to Medicaid, Tillis indicated he would vote against it unless changes are made.

Following his vote, Trump threatened to support primary challengers against Tillis in the upcoming election, stating plans to meet with potential candidates who aim to better represent North Carolina and the country.
