Eight-Year-Old Boy Killed by SUV in Crown Heights
Tragedy struck in Crown Heights when an eight-year-old boy was hit and killed by a vehicle while walking with his sister across the street.
The incident occurred as the boy, Mordica Keller, was crossing Eastern Parkway at Albany Street. A black Honda Pilot traveling southbound struck him, and the driver, a 69-year-old, remained at the scene to assist emergency responders.
Despite efforts by EMS, Keller was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Kings County Hospital. The driver has not been arrested, and authorities are continuing their investigation.
Neighbors expressed shock over the fatal accident, noting that the boy was part of the local Jewish community and was crossing the street with his 17-year-old sister at the time. One witness mentioned that the driver appeared very remorseful, indicating he was not under the influence and had a green light at the time of the collision.
Following sundown, aid organization Misaskim arrived at the scene to handle the aftermath, including gathering bloodied clothing and cleaning the affected area.
The investigation into the accident remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision. This incident follows a previous tragedy earlier this year involving a mother and her daughters who were struck and killed by a car while crossing Ocean Parkway.
