Atletico Madrid Star Poised to Join Sunderland in S:ho:ck Transfer — Beat Premier League Rivals!
Sunderland Nears Deal to Sign Reinildo from Atletico Madrid
Sunderland is close to securing the transfer of Reinildo Isnard Mandava, the Atletico Madrid defender, in a move that is expected to be finalized soon. The 31-year-old left-back, known simply as Reinildo, has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Leeds and Crystal Palace. However, reports suggest Sunderland is leading the race after entering advanced negotiations with him, with the likelihood of agreeing to a two-year contract.
Reinildo has been with Atletico Madrid since January 2022, joining from Lille. Over his tenure, he has made 103 appearances under coach Diego Simeone, but his current contract is set to expire next week, potentially allowing Sunderland to sign him on a free transfer.
Sunderland is reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign Reinildo from Atletico Madrid.
The defender is expected to become a key signing for Sunderland this summer.
Reinildo also represented Atletico at this year’s FIFA Club World Cup in the USA.
This transfer marks Sunderland’s second significant signing since their promotion from the Championship last season. The club previously secured French midfielder Enzo Le Fee from Roma for approximately £19 million, following their promotion-induced clause activation. Since the end of last season, players Jobe Bellingham and Tom Watson have departed. Reinildo’s acquisition will bolster Sunderland’s defensive options as they prepare for top-flight competition.
