Tr:um:p’s Heartwarming Moment with Ukrainian Journalist: “I Wish You Lots of Luck”

U.S. President Discusses Ukraine War and Defense Support

During a NATO Summit in The Hague, President Trump engaged in a heartfelt exchange with a Ukrainian journalist who revealed her husband is a soldier fighting in Ukraine. The journalist, Myroslava Petsa, asked whether the United States is prepared to provide Patriot missile systems to Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.

Before addressing her question, Trump inquired if Petsa was living in Ukraine, to which she responded that her husband is there, while she and her children are currently in Warsaw, Poland, for safety reasons. Trump then asked if her husband was a soldier, and upon her confirmation, he expressed sympathy, saying, “Wow, that’s rough stuff, right? That’s tough.”

Trump reassured her that Ukraine desires military assistance from the U.S. and indicated that efforts would be made to supply Ukraine with the requested weapons. The president acknowledged the difficulty in obtaining such systems, emphasizing their effectiveness: “We were supplying them to Israel, and they’re very effective — 100% effective. And Ukraine wants them more than anything.”

Trump concluded by wishing the journalist luck and urged her to say hello to her husband. He then proceeded to take additional questions. The President has recently voiced frustration with Russia’s aggressive actions, condemning Vladimir Putin for brutal attacks on Ukraine, including a recent barrage of drone and missile strikes. Despite this, the administration remains cautious about intensifying sanctions, even as Congress pushes for harsher measures.
