Tr:um:p Blasts ‘Third Rate’ GOP Rep. Thomas Massie — You Won’t Believe What He Said!
President Trump Criticizes Republican Rep. Thomas Massie Over War Powers Opposition
President Donald Trump has again publicly attacked Rep. Thomas Massie for his stance on military intervention, calling him a “loser” on social media after Massie suggested reconsidering legislation aimed at limiting presidential war powers. Massie, a Kentucky Republican known for his opposition to US involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict, had expressed willingness to pull back from a bipartisan resolution intended to prevent unintended escalation.
Trump criticized Massie, claiming he’s dishonest about defending the Constitution and criticizes his record of voting against measures he supports. He also accused Massie of wanting to raise taxes significantly if certain legislation doesn’t pass, labeling him a “RINO” (Republican In Name Only). Despite the president’s remarks, Massie has remained unfazed, dismissing Trump’s attacks as overly aggressive.
The congressman has historically opposed interventionist policies, particularly criticizing Trump’s actions against Iran. Recently, Massie worked with Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna on a resolution to restrict US involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict. However, after a ceasefire was announced amid ongoing hostilities, Massie indicated he might support dropping the resolution if the fighting subsides.
Massie relayed that he discussed the matter with House leadership, telling reporters he would hold off until seeing if the ceasefire holds. He emphasized he’s adopting a “wait and see” approach on further military engagement decisions.
Despite the personal attacks from Trump, Massie remains confident, claiming to have raised significant funds and predicting that Trump may ultimately decide not to challenge him, fearing electoral defeat.
In response to escalating tensions, Trump also criticized Israeli retaliations, urging restraint to maintain the fragile ceasefire, and calling out Israel’s rapid military actions against Iran. Throughout the exchange, Massie’s consistent opposition to intervention and his willingness to challenge Trump’s policies have kept him at odds with the former president.
