Texas T:e:e:n Karmelo Anthony Indicted for Shocking First-Degree Murder!

Texas Teenager Charged with Murder After High School Track Meet Killing

Karmelo Anthony, a 17-year-old from Texas, has been formally charged with first-degree murder following the stabbing death of fellow student Austin Metcalf during a high school track event in April. The indictment followed a grand jury review of evidence presented over several weeks, concluding that Anthony was responsible for the fatal incident.

The confrontation occurred on April 2 at the University Interscholastic League’s District 11-5A championship meet, stemming from a dispute over a seat. Authorities say Anthony claimed self-defense, while others questioned the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.

Anthony was released on a $250,000 bond, living in a luxurious gated community in Frisco, Texas. His family initiated a fundraiser that has raised over $530,000 for his legal costs. Neighbors reported that Anthony even purchased a new vehicle shortly after the incident. His bond was reduced from an initial $1 million, citing financial difficulties.

Following the indictment, Anthony’s attorney, Mike Howard, reiterated their stance that his client acted in self-defense, expressing confidence that a full presentation of facts will lead to an acquittal. The case drew nationwide attention, partly due to Anthony’s background as a promising athlete and the circumstances of his release.
