Fitness Influencer and Her Date Fatally Shot in California

A well-known fitness influencer, Gloria Zamora, along with her date, Hector Garduno, was tragically shot and killed in a parking lot in Fontana, California. Zamora, a mother of seven with over 150,000 followers on Instagram, was shot alongside Garduno, the father of four. The incident occurred at a sushi restaurant shortly after Zamora announced on her podcast that she was planning to leave her second husband.

The shooter was identified as Thomas Alberto Tamayo Lizarraga, Zamora’s estranged husband. He allegedly targeted Zamora and Garduno in an act driven by jealousy amid ongoing divorce proceedings. Several off-duty law enforcement officers, including a deputy from San Bernardino County who was nearby, witnessed the attack. The deputy intervened by confronting the suspect, who was then shot and killed by the officer.

Hector Garduno, 43, was also fatally wounded by Tamayo. Authorities confirmed that Tamayo was shot and killed by the deputy at the scene. The deputy’s identity remains undisclosed. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Family and friends have rallied to support the victims’ children. An online fundraiser highlighted that Zamora left behind seven children aged 8 to 24, who now face an uncertain future without their mother’s love and guidance. Her daughter Jazlynne described her mother as “a light in her community” who inspired many women with her words: “Women can do anything they set their minds to.”

Family members have also created a GoFundMe to honor Garduno’s memory, describing him as a “devoted and hardworking man” taken too soon. The community mourns the loss of two lives cut short by a senseless act of violence.
