Florida Dad Returns to Lounge Hours After Son’s Tragic Car D:ea:th—Shocking Details!
Florida Father Arrested After Leaving Toddler to Die in Hot Car
A man in Florida has been taken into custody after allegedly leaving his 18-month-old son in a car for hours, resulting in the child’s death. Authorities labeled the father as “garbage” for his actions and revealed he later returned to a bar where he had been drinking following his son’s tragedy.
Scott Allen Gardner, 33, reportedly parked his vehicle around 11:30 a.m. in Ormond Beach, leaving his young son Sebastian inside a locked truck. Later, Gardner went to Hanky Panky’s Lounge for drinks, ordering multiple rounds of beer and Fireball shots, despite witnesses noting they never saw the boy inside the bar.
After spending over three hours in the scorching heat, with temperatures reaching 92 degrees, Gardner only realized Sebastian was unresponsive on his way back home. He called 911, crying out for help and shouting for his mother’s assistance during the emergency call. Medical personnel found the child unresponsive and suffering from an internal temperature exceeding 107°F, with the inside of the vehicle reaching up to 111°F.
First responders attempted resuscitation but could not revive Sebastian due to rigor mortis. Gardner’s actions were heavily criticized by authorities, with Sheriff Mike Chitwood condemning him as “human garbage.” Investigators also disputed Gardner’s claim that he left the windows open and used a fan for his son, explaining that the car’s interior would have become just as hot with A/C running.
Gardner allegedly was the same officer who arrived to find Sebastian dead and later handcuffed him at his mother’s residence two weeks afterward. He faces charges of aggravated manslaughter and child neglect causing serious harm, and he remains jailed without bond.
Sheriff Chitwood expressed outrage, stating, “There’s no penalty on earth fitting for this crime,” and hoped Gardner would constantly be haunted by his actions, questioning why he would leave his son in such dangerous conditions. The tragedy underscores the devastating consequences of neglect and reckless parenting in extreme heat conditions.
