Mayor Adams Spotted Smoking Hookah at NYC Lounge Just Days After US Airstrikes on I:ra:n!

Mayor Adams Joins Celebration at Queens Lounge Amid International Tensions

While attending a relaunch event at the Sands of Persia lounge in Queens, New York City Mayor Eric Adams was seen enjoying a hookah, just one day after U.S. airstrikes targeted Iranian nuclear facilities.

Adams, dressed casually in a cap labeled “MAYOR ADAMS” and an official city polo shirt, was captured in photos under the lounge’s purple lighting during the event, which also featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The gathering was attended by Winnie Greco, a former aide now under investigation for alleged corruption.

His spokesperson clarified that the visit was unrelated to recent international events, stating Adams was unaware of the guest list beforehand.

City’s Small Business Success and Political Context

Despite federal investigations and recent political controversies involving Greco—a key contributor to Adams’ campaigns—city officials highlighted NYC’s record number of small businesses, with one in five opening during Adams’ administration, underscoring ongoing local economic recovery efforts.

Greco, aged 62, resigned last October amid FBI raids on her properties. She served as an advisor on Asian Affairs but has been largely absent from public view since the investigation into the administration’s alleged corruption, which initially led to federal charges later dropped when political administration shifted with a new presidency.

Adams’ spokesperson emphasized that Greco is not involved in his reelection efforts or official government duties.

International Tensions and Local Response

The mayor’s appearance at the lounge came shortly after the U.S. conducted significant airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, an escalation in the Middle East conflict. Adams posted on X, expressing concern for the large Persian community in NYC and announcing increased police presence at cultural and diplomatic sites across the city.
