Luxury Party Yacht Crashes into Hudson River Pier, Dozens Insured
A festive occasion on a lavish New York City yacht turned chaotic after the vessel collided with a dock along the Hudson River, injuring multiple passengers. The incident occurred as the boat, carrying nearly 400 guests, was attempting to dock Saturday afternoon.
The vessel, known as the Timeless, was near West 125th Street and Henry Hudson Parkways when a rope snapped, causing it to ram into the pier. Witnesses reported that the impact happened quickly, with some falling inside the boat or onto the dock due to the sudden crash.
One attendee, celebrating her 69th birthday, detailed the chaos: “Some people were descending the stairs when the boat suddenly hit the dock. Many fell without support, and several were badly hurt.”
Fire officials confirmed about 35 individuals sustained minor injuries, with 23 taken to hospitals for evaluation. No one was ejected overboard during the collision. Witnesses described a startling scene, with patrons in wheelchairs and others mourning minor bumps and bruises.
Despite the frightening event, many passengers, including a party promoter, expressed gratitude that no serious injuries occurred. “We’re blessed — people were standing along the side, and when the boat hit, they narrowly avoided going overboard,” said the promoter.
The three-level vessel, the largest in the fleet, features multiple bars and indoor seating for up to 550 people, used for scenic cruises along the river. The company charges around $120 per person for various events, including weddings and parties.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Coast Guard. Police and safety authorities have yet to determine why the line snapped, leading to the collision. Meanwhile, passengers disembarked safely, some with minor injuries, as emergency crews responded promptly to the scene.
