NYPD Saves Kayakers in Shocking Third Hudson Water Rescue This Month—You Won’t Believe What Happened!
Overturned Kayakers Rescued from the Hudson River
Two men, aged 42 and 27, had to be rescued after their kayaks capsized near Pier 66 on the Hudson River. The incident occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m., when witnesses saw the men clinging to the pier’s edge. The NYPD Harbor and Emergency Services units responded promptly, pulling both kayakers to safety. Fortunately, they were conscious, alert, and unharmed during the rescue.
The successful rescue was captured in images showing the men being brought to shore. Their identities have not been disclosed.
This rescue follows a series of recent water-related incidents in the city. The day prior, a luxury yacht carrying nearly 400 passengers collided with a pier and a highway, injuring 35 people, with 23 hospitalized. Some passengers had to be removed in wheelchairs after the vessel crashed into West 125th Street around 4:20 p.m.
These events highlight ongoing safety concerns on New York City’s waterways, from recreational activities to larger vessel operations.
