LA Taxpayers to Pay Over $30M for Anti-ICE Protests—Shocking Cost Unveiled!

Cost of Anti-ICE Protests in Los Angeles Reaches $32 Million

The recent anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles have cost city taxpayers approximately $32 million, according to official data. The expenses cover police response, emergency services, cleanup efforts, and property damage caused during the demonstrations.

Of this total, about $29.5 million was spent on LAPD operations, including tactical alert costs across the city. Since protests began, the LAPD reports making around 561 arrests, with over 200 arrests occurring on a single day after a citywide curfew was implemented.

Additional costs include $1.4 million allocated for public property repair and cleanup efforts. Funds were also designated for the Los Angeles Fire Department, street services, general municipal services, and the Public Works Department.

Downtown LA has become the focal point of these protests, which emerged in opposition to federal immigration enforcement policies and President Trump’s immigration crackdown. The unrest has been described as the most intense since the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests, driven by opposition to the administration’s deportation agenda.

Federal Involvement and Financial Impact

In response to the protests, the Pentagon deployed more than 4,100 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to assist in maintaining order and protect federal buildings. The cost of federal military deployment could reach up to $134 million, a figure revealed by the Pentagon earlier this month. These troops were also previously used during the 2020 George Floyd riots and in the 1992 LA riots to enforce curfews.
