Jobe Bellingham’s £32M Borussia Dortmund Move, First Name Shirt & His Premier League Legends Inspiration!
Jobe Bellingham Reflects on His Move to Borussia Dortmund and First Goal
Jobe Bellingham has shared his experiences settling into his new club, Borussia Dortmund, after scoring his debut goal for the team. Having transferred from Sunderland earlier this month for a fee of £27.8 million plus additional bonuses, Bellingham is currently representing Dortmund in the Club World Cup.
He made an immediate impact by netting his first goal in Dortmund’s 4-3 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns during the group stage. The 19-year-old midfielder is following in the footsteps of his older brother Jude Bellingham, who previously played for Dortmund before moving to Real Madrid and winning both the Champions League and La Liga titles.
Jobe expressed his positive adaptation to the club: “It’s been really good. I met the team and signed before flying out, so I’m starting to feel comfortable.” He also mentioned that his move, although sudden, has been enjoyable thanks to the support from his teammates.
Unique Shirt Name and Personal Inspirations
He revealed that he prefers having his first name, “Jobe,” on his shirt rather than his surname, Bellingham. Explaining this choice, he said it’s “quite cool” and has a personal significance, recalling it started from a suggestion when he was younger, inspired by close friends and mentors.
Additionally, Bellingham shared that he learns from watching legendary players like Patrick Vieira and Steven Gerrard, aiming to develop his skills in midfield roles. He also finds inspiration from documentaries on players such as Diego Maradona, although he notes Maradona’s exceptional talent makes learning from him impossible.
