Jobe Bellingham Scores on Debut! Borussia Dortmund Wins 4-3 in Thrilling Club World Cup Match
Jobe Bellingham Scores on Borussia Dortmund Debut in 4-3 Club World Cup Victory
Jobe Bellingham made an impressive start for Borussia Dortmund by netting his first goal for the club during their 4-3 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns in the Club World Cup.
The 19-year-old, following in the footsteps of his older brother Jude, transferred to Dortmund from Sunderland earlier this month in a €32 million deal. He debuted as a substitute in the tournament’s opener against Fluminense but was given a starting position against Sundowns, showing promising signs of establishing his own reputation.
During the match, Dortmund took an early lead after a slick combination between Julian Brandt and Guirassy, who headed in a cross to open the scoring. Bellingham then added to the lead before halftime with a precise half-volley into the bottom corner from inside the penalty box, extending Dortmund’s advantage to 3-1.
Despite a strong start from Sundowns, who opened the scoring with a brilliant solo effort from Lucas Ribeiro, the South Africans soon faced setbacks due to defensive errors. An uncharacteristic mistake by Sundowns’ goalkeeper Ronwen Williams led to Dortmund’s second goal, with Nmecha capitalizing on the rebound.
Sundowns fought back with a header from Teboho Mokoena, after a floated free kick, and a late goal from Mothiba, but Dortmund held on to secure the win.
