AirTrain Fares Slashed 50%—Say Goodbye to Travel Chaos this Summer!
AirTrain Fares to JFK Airport Halved for Summer Traffic Relief
Commuters traveling to and from New York City’s JFK International Airport will enjoy a significant fare reduction this summer. Starting June 30, the Port Authority is lowering AirTrain prices by 50% at both the Jamaica and Howard Beach stations, bringing the fare down from $8.50 to $4.25. The reduced rates will be available through Labor Day, September 1.
This initiative aims to ease summer congestion, especially as the airport anticipates a record-breaking 18.3 million travelers during the season, marking the second consecutive year of passenger volume growth. The fare discount applies to payments made via OMNY or MetroCard.
The airport is currently undergoing a substantial $19 billion renovation—the largest airport redevelopment project in the U.S.—which includes work on Terminals 1, 4, 6, and 8. Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole encouraged travelers to use public transit, noting that the discounted fare is part of the effort to make airport travel faster and more reliable despite ongoing construction delays.
Drivers are advised to arrive three hours early due to limited parking capacity, and to reserve parking in advance. For those opting for rideshare services like Uber or Lyft, pickup will be at a designated remote lot with free shuttles transporting passengers to the terminals, helping to reduce airport gridlock.
