Jobe Bellingham’s £32m Borussia Dortmund move, first-ever goal, and the Premier League legends inspiring him!
Jobe Bellingham Discusses His Move to Borussia Dortmund and First Goals
Jobe Bellingham recently shared his experiences after transferring to Borussia Dortmund, marking his debut with the German club by netting his first goal. He joined Dortmund from Sunderland earlier this month for a fee of approximately £27.8 million, including additional bonuses, and is currently participating in the Club World Cup with his new team.
Bellingham scored his inaugural goal for Dortmund in a 4-3 win against Mamelodi Sundowns during the group stage of the tournament. The 19-year-old midfielder expressed that he’s settling in well at his new club. He mentioned, “It’s really good. I met the team and signed before flying out. I feel like I’m starting to gel with everyone. It’s been enjoyable despite the quick transition.”
He also shared that he prefers wearing his first name, “Jobe,” on his shirt rather than his surname. “It’s quite unique and cool,” he explained. “I thought about doing it when I first signed for Sunderland, and a close coach suggested I try it. I think it adds a personal touch and I really enjoy it.”
In addition, Bellingham revealed that watching experienced midfielders like Patrick Vieira and Steven Gerrard inspires his development. He appreciates the versatility of players like Vieira, noting, “He did everything — not just defensive duties, but also attacking. I study clips of him and other midfielders to learn and improve.” Bellingham admires legends across the sport and continuously seeks to refine his skills through careful observation.
