Shocking! Squatter Kills Roommate Over Just $250 Rent Dispute—You Won’t Believe What Happened!

Alleged Fatal Shooting Over Rent Dispute Outside Houston

A man accused of shooting and killing his roommate after a dispute over a small rent amount has been apprehended. The incident occurred when the suspect, identified as Angel Gomez Montanez, reportedly threatened to harm everyone as he approached the residence.

Montanez, 21, had not paid rent for over three months at a home near Houston, Texas. When his roommate, 18-year-old Christopher Rodriguez Lara, asked him to contribute the modest $250, Montanez left the house with his belongings but later returned promising to pay the rent.

According to reports, Montanez insisted on paying directly to Lara. When Lara stepped outside, Montanez allegedly shot him instantly and then fled the scene. A 9-year-old witness, armed with a rock, pursued Montanez but hid once the suspect started walking back toward the house. The child later told investigators that Montanez declared, “I’m going to kill all of them.”

During the shooting, Montanez reportedly fired an additional shot aimed at Lara’s brother. Authorities believe the suspect also targeted Lara’s brother during the chaos.

Family members explained that Montanez had been staying in their residence for three months. A relative, Zulekya Ortiz, shared, “We told him we needed the rent, and that’s all we cared about.”

Investigators uncovered a bullet hole in the house siding, evidence of the gunfire. Lara, described by family as a joyful presence, was greatly loved by his siblings and family members. Ortiz stated, “He was the happiness in this home. My children loved him.”

Montanez was detained on June 15 and faces a murder charge. The case remains under investigation as authorities piece together the details of the tragic event.
