Shocking Glass Door Accident Leaves NY Man with Serious Injuries – You Won’t Believe What Happened!

Young Man Severely Injured When Glass Door Fells at Manhattan Retail Store

A young professional sustained serious injuries after a large glass door unexpectedly collapsed at a Manhattan eyewear retailer.

William Vance, 32, was walking past the LensCrafters on West 34th Street last month when, without warning, a heavy glass door detached from its hinges and fell onto him. The incident, captured in a lawsuit filed later, caused the door to shatter and knock Vance to the ground.

The lawsuit alleges that workers were reportedly working on the door the day before the accident and suggests the store may have been aware of a hazardous condition or even caused it. Vance was struck with force, resulting in multiple fractures to his shoulder and foot, as well as rotator cuff and ligament injuries.

Vance recalled that he was simply walking on the sidewalk and did not attempt to open the doors at the time of the fall. The lawsuit notes that typical retail glass doors can weigh up to 350 pounds.

His attorney, Daniel Cevallos, explained that Vance was in shock and unable to remember details of the incident. The legal team is requesting surveillance footage of the scene, which could verify whether store employees were tampering with the door beforehand.

Since the accident, Vance has been immobilized in a sling and unable to work, with ongoing concern about the impact of his injuries. The store has since replaced the door, but the extent of Vance’s recovery remains uncertain.

Calls to the store’s parent company, Luxottica, went unanswered, and no public statement has been issued. His attorney emphasizes that Vance is focused on healing and hopes similar incidents are prevented in the future.
