Andy Carroll is Returning to England Early! Bordeaux Praises Striker Earning Just €2,500 a Month

Andy Carroll Leaves Bordeaux to Reunite with Family in England

Former England international and ex-Liverpool striker Andy Carroll has announced his departure from Bordeaux after spending a single season with the club. He aims to return to England to be closer to his five children.

During his time at Bordeaux, Carroll became a fan favorite by scoring 11 goals in 23 appearances, helping the team to a fourth-place finish in France’s fourth division. His decision to move to France was motivated by a desire for a fresh challenge, though the financial situation at Bordeaux was challenging, with Carroll earning less than €2,500 (£2,140) per month, significantly lower than his peak wages at Liverpool.

Bordeaux, one of France’s most successful teams, expressed gratitude for Carroll’s dedication, highlighting his commitment and positive influence both on and off the pitch. They stated that his experience, physicality, and professionalism contributed greatly to the squad and that they fully understand his personal reasons for leaving.

Despite the move, Carroll’s future remains uncertain; he has expressed a desire to continue playing into his 40s. He began his career at Newcastle, earning a £35 million transfer to Liverpool in 2011, and has represented England nine times, scoring in the 2012 European Championship.

Carroll has also played for West Ham, West Brom, Reading, and briefly returned to Newcastle before joining Amiens in September 2023. His personal life includes relationships with Billi Mucklow, with whom he shares three children, and Lou Teasdale, his current partner.
