Liverpool Close to £40 Million Deal for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez Amid Summer Transfer Surge

The Reds are nearing an agreement to acquire 21-year-old left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth for £40 million. The player is scheduled for a medical examination next week before signing a five-year contract.

This potential addition marks Liverpool’s third summer signing, following Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, the latter of whom is expected to join soon. Kerkez impressed last season with Bournemouth, making 38 Premier League starts, contributing six assists and two goals.

His father, Sebastijan Kerkez, confirmed that several clubs showed interest earlier but reiterated their trust in Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes, who previously brought him to Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar for around £15.5 million in July 2023.

Hughes’s influence appears crucial, with Sebastijan stating, “Everything is agreed; just a few details remain.” Kerkez’s move would increase Liverpool’s total summer expenditure to approximately £185.5 million.

Meanwhile, speculation surrounds veteran defender Andy Robertson’s future, with reports suggesting a possible transfer to La Liga club Atletico Madrid. Robertson, who has one year left on his contract, expressed readiness to continue contributing but acknowledged he is open to discussions with interested clubs.
