Arsenal’s £50m Superstar Snatched! Summer Target Signs 6-Year Deal with European Giants!
Barcelona Nears Deal for Nico Williams Despite Arsenal Interest
Barcelona is closing in on securing Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao this summer, according to reports. The 22-year-old winger, who has attracted interest from Arsenal and Chelsea in recent seasons, has reportedly agreed to a six-year contract with the LaLiga champions, including an annual salary of approximately €7-8 million (£6-7 million).
Williams has been considered one of the brightest young talents in European football, notably impressing at Euro 2024, where he scored the opening goal in Spain’s 2-1 victory over England in Berlin. Last season, he contributed 11 goals and seven assists in 45 matches for Athletic Bilbao, helping them finish fourth in La Liga.
His potential move to Barcelona, who are eager to strengthen their attack on the left flank, is a setback for Arsenal, which has long admired the player. Barcelona aimed to reinforce their squad, especially after last season’s success as La Liga champions, with aspirations of winning their first Champions League title since 2015.
There is still work to be done financially, as Barcelona and Bilbao need to agree on the payment structure for Williams’ release clause, believed to be around £50 million. Bilbao prefers full payment upfront, while Barcelona favors installments.
