Kate Middleton decided not to attend this Wednesday’s Royal Ascot, as she continues to balance her return to royal responsibilities following her cancer treatment.

Initially, Ascot officials announced in the carriage list that the Princess of Wales planned to appear in the second carriage of the royal procession alongside Prince William, according to the Daily Mail.

Shortly after, Kensington Palace confirmed that Middleton, 43, would not be attending, and Ascot updated the official list accordingly.

The source shared that she was “disappointed” to miss the event but is prioritizing herself as she continues to re-engage with public appearances.

While she stayed away from the races, her mother, Carole Middleton, was present along with her son James Middleton’s wife, Alizee Thevenet.

In recent days, the princess has taken part in several engagements, including Trooping the Colour and the Order of the Garter service.
