The jury in the Karen Read trial announced a verdict on Wednesday afternoon.

Judge Beverly Cannone summoned both parties back to the Norfolk County Courthouse to deliver an update amid growing tension about Read’s potential conviction for the murder of her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe.

Initially, there was some confusion.

The jury first informed a court officer that they had reached a decision. Shortly after, they returned and stated they did not have a verdict.

This marks the fourth day of jury deliberations on whether Read is guilty of second-degree murder, manslaughter, or leaving the scene that resulted in death. Later, it was confirmed that a verdict had been reached.
