A brave dog recently faced off against a bear that broke into a California home while its owner slept unaware. The incident was caught on security footage, showing a huge bear wandering inside a residence in Monrovia.

The 17-year-old dog, Doodle, was terrified as he watched the bear break through the screen door. Zoe Cadman, Doodle’s owner, was asleep during the event, which lasted about 20 minutes. The bear, apparently a frequent visitor to the area, explored the house, including the refrigerator.

Determined to defend his territory, Doodle moved toward the broken door. As the bear poked its head inside, it reached out with a claw, but Doodle dodged the swipe, barking fiercely. The two animals shared a brief stare before the bear almost touched noses. Annoyed, Doodle barked again and ran away, uninjured.

The bear continued wandering near the front door, seemingly disoriented. Cadman was awakened when she noticed her kitchen light and discovered the bear rummaging through her fridge before calmly leaving the house, leaving behind a shattered door and a distressed dog.
