Shocking! Man Clings to 250-Foot NYC Tram Tower—Unbelievable Feat Caught on Camera!

On Monday evening, a daring individual wearing a hoodie and mask climbed the Roosevelt Island Tramway tower, prompting police rescue efforts, including the use of climbing gear, as seen in startling footage.

The 20-year-old was found calmly walking along the gangway of the support tower, which stands 250 feet tall on the Manhattan side, as captured in the video obtained by The Post. The video shows him pausing at times to lean on a railing and browse on his phone.

He later descended and carefully maneuvered onto a narrow I-beam using short ladders, dangerously balancing as shown in the footage.

Witnesses alerted 911 about the climber prior to police arriving. Emergency responders in climbing gear ascended the tower, with an NYPD helicopter overhead providing support.

The suspect gave a defiant gesture, spreading his arms as officers approached. Firefighters and police gathered below, observing the stunt unfold.

He was apprehended without injury and transported by paramedics to Weill-Cornell Medical Center. Authorities have not identified him, and charges are pending.

Police confirmed that there’s no evidence linking the climber to any protest or cause, and the incident remains under investigation.

Historically, individuals have climbed the tower; in 2004, Gerard Corrar was arrested while attempting to do so. Additionally, a 2014 prank on the show Impractical Jokers involved a stunt at the tower, though such activities typically require approval.
