Peter Stinson, a former Coast Guard officer, was recently detained after allegedly threatening to kill President Donald Trump, according to court records obtained by Fox News.

Stinson, a Virginia resident, served in the Coast Guard from 1988 until 2021, where he was a sharpshooter and FEMA instructor.

An FBI affidavit detailed numerous online threats made by Stinson. On May 9, he reportedly posted that Trump needed to be “[L]uigied,” referring to Luigi Mangione, who was accused of killing United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson last year.

Stinson allegedly posted graphic threats involving guns, poison, and knives across various social media platforms. He also mentioned feeling he lacked the skills to carry out an assassination but implied he might not be entirely truthful about it.

The documents indicate that Stinson referenced “8647,” which officials believe relates to a post by ex-FBI Director James Comey.

According to the affidavit, “The post by Comey was interpreted as a violent threat to President Trump and prompted an investigation by Homeland Security and the Secret Service. Stinson has since made 13 more posts on Bluesky, including the text ‘8647’,” the report states.

Stinson is also said to have identified himself as a member of ANTIFA.

On February 2, Stinson posted on X, “Sure. This is war. Sides will be drawn. Antifa always wins in the end. Violence is necessary.” Most recently, on June 11, he tweeted on BlueSky, “When he dies, the party is going to be yuge.”

Stinson faces charges for threatening to kill the president and is scheduled for a court appearance on Wednesday.
