Exclusive: Border Agents Never Released a Single Illegal Migrant into the US Last Month!
Border Patrol agents did not release any migrants into the US last month, a sharp decline after the Biden administration permitted 64,000 illegal crossings in May 2024, an exclusive report from The Post reveals.
In the past month, agents intercepted 8,725 migrants attempting to cross illegally at the southern border. This marks a 93% drop from May 2024, when 117,905 illegal crossings were reported, according to internal data obtained by The Post.
Acting Customs and Border Protection commissioner Pete Flores attributed this decline to the Trump administration’s stricter border policies.
One significant change was reversing Biden’s catch-and-release policy, which had allowed millions of migrants to enter the US illegally.
Flores stated, “Under this administration, CBP received historic support, leading to a 93% decrease in illegal crossings compared to last year.”
“Border numbers remain at historic lows, demonstrating the success of our enforcement efforts in securing the homeland,” he added.
Border Patrol is close to achieving “full operational control” of the border, according to National Border Patrol Council President Paul Perez.
“Our agents now patrol the border, unlike during the previous administration when they were overwhelmed with processing and detention tasks,” Perez explained.
Perez added, “During Biden’s term, border security was compromised as agents were diverted to processing without deterrent effect. Now, they patrol actively, securing the border.”
