Elijah Blue Allman’s former wife has spoken out after his alleged overdose at age 48.

Marieangela King Allman expressed her support in a statement to People, a day after he was taken to a hospital in Joshua Tree, CA.

She acknowledged his past personal issues, emphasizing that his “steadfast commitment to sobriety” remains unchanged.

Marieangela praised Elijah’s unwavering dedication to sobriety, adding that he faces his inner challenges from a position of strength rather than defeat. She stressed that he remains focused and committed to living with integrity despite misconceptions.

She reaffirmed her unconditional support, stating, “I will always root for him,” highlighting her respect and admiration for his resilience.

Though Elijah filed for divorce in 2021, the petition was dismissed in February 2024. Marieangela officially filed for divorce in April 2025.

Later that year, Elijah was seen looking disheveled outside the Chateau Marmont, hinting at ongoing struggles. Photos showed him in a distressed state.

Elijah has previously acknowledged starting substance use at age 11. Cher has openly discussed his mental health and substance issues, filing for conservatorship briefly in 2023, which she later withdrew.

Authorities reported drugs were found in his home at the time of hospitalization. “The ongoing investigation continues,” said officials. Cher has not yet responded to requests for comment.

Cher, a Grammy winner, is Eli’s mother, born in 1976 with Gregg Allman. She also has a son, Chaz, with Sonny Bono.
