Shocking! Mandy Patinkin Reveals the Bold Move He Made on His First Date with Wife
Mandy Patinkin made a bold move on his first date with wife Kathryn Grody by aiming for a home run.
“He told me on our initial date that he was going to marry me,” Grody shared with Page Six. “I thought he was crazy because I didn’t believe in marriage at the time.”
Looking back, Grody, now 78, recalled that after just two months of dating, Patinkin, 72, suggested they move in together.
Grody added, “I remember saying, ‘Let’s enjoy falling in love before we get hurt,’ and he replied, ‘I love you! I’ll never hurt you,’” which made her think, “Oh my God, he knows nothing!”
Married since 1980, the couple are parents to Isaac and Gideon.
“I started posting videos of my parents to raise awareness for refugees and the International Rescue Committee,” Gideon explained. “Surprisingly, it took off.”
During the 2020 election, Gideon collaborated with filmmaker Ewen Wright on videos aimed at preventing a Trump reelection.
This collaboration inspired “Seasoned,” a series where the couple play characters loosely based on themselves. Its debut screened at Tribeca last week.
They also share a playful record of how long they can go without irritating one another; Patinkin joked, “Maybe 14 minutes,” before adding that he still adores Grody, who giggles when he says “I love you.”
Reflecting on his career, Patinkin expressed gratitude for his diverse work—from stage to screen—including classics like “The Princess Bride,” “Homeland,” and more. He considers his career a blessing, supporting his family and enabling a vibrant life.
