Kentucky Gunman: ‘Someone’s Gonna Have to Die’ After Targeting Wrong Church

Tragic Shooting at a Kentucky Church Leaves Multiple Victims

A violent incident in Lexington, Kentucky resulted in the deaths of two women and injuries to three others, including a police officer. The suspect, identified as Guy House, stormed a local church and opened fire after threatening to kill someone upon learning that the mother of his children was not present.

During the attack at Richmond Road Baptist Church, House demanded to see a family member but was told she was absent. He then declared, “Someone’s gonna have to die,” before shooting Beverely Gumm, a 72-year-old member of the congregation. She narrowly avoided the first shot but was struck in the chest on the second, causing her death. Outside the church, House also killed Christina Combs, 34, a mother of five, who was reportedly a dedicated nurse-in-training and a loving member of her community. Rutherford’s sister, Christina, was also shot and injured.

Following the initial shooting, House exited the church and wounded other family members, including the church’s longtime pastor, Jerry Gumm, and his brother-in-law, Randy Combs, critically injuring them. The attacker then fled in a carjacked vehicle, traveled approximately 15 miles, and continued his deadly spree at the church before being shot and killed by responding officers.
