Michael Madson, the celebrated actor known for his roles in iconic films, has died at the age of 67. He was found unresponsive in his Malibu home on July 3rd, 2025, with cardiac arrest reported as the likely cause of death.
Born on September 25, 1957, in Chicago, Madson was the son of Elaine Melson, an Emmy-winning filmmaker and author, and Calvin Christian Madson, a Navy veteran and firefighter. His heritage included Danish, Irish, and Native American roots. He had two sisters, Virginia Madson, an actress, and Cheryl Madson, an entrepreneur.
Madson’s acting career began at the Steenwill Theater in Chicago, where he apprenticed under John Malkovich. He rose to fame with his role as the menacing “Mr. Blonde” in Quentin Tarantino’s 1992 film, Reservoir Dogs. He became a regular in Tarantino’s projects, appearing in both Kill Bill movies, The Hateful Eight, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. His filmography also includes roles in War Games, The Natural, Thelma & Louise, Donnie Brasco, and Die Another Day.
Beyond acting, Madson was a published author of six poetry books. He was married three times and had six children, though his son Hudson tragically passed away in January 2022.
