Sen. Bill Cassidy Raises $9M in Record-Breaking Campaign Fundraiser
Senator Bill Cassidy Raises Over $2 Million in Second Quarter Amid Re-election Bid
Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy (R) secured $2.12 million in the second quarter as he prepares for a potential third term, possibly facing Democrat and former governor John Bel Edwards in a head-to-head race.
His campaign reports a cash reserve of $9 million, the largest ever for a Louisiana Senate candidate at this stage of the election cycle. Cassidy expressed gratitude for the widespread support, emphasizing his commitment to conservative leadership that benefits Louisiana.
Cassidy highlighted his work with former President Trump, including passing significant legislation benefiting the state. Although previously at odds over Trump’s role in the January 6 Capitol riot, Cassidy received praise from Trump for his legislative efforts in May.
Polling indicates Cassidy is expected to lead in the Republican primary, with 45% support compared to opponents John Fleming and Randall Arrington. Fleming currently has 18%, while Arrington trails at 3%. If the election were today, Cassidy would likely secure the nomination.
Louisiana Democratic Party’s executive director, Dadrius Lanus, mentioned that Cassidy may face a strong Democratic challenger in 2026, though he declined to specify who that might be.
Trump publicly praised Cassidy’s role in advancing his legislative agenda in May. Despite occasional disagreements, Cassidy remains a prominent figure in Louisiana politics and a proven conservative fighter known for working tirelessly for the state’s interests.
His campaign manager, Katie Larkin, affirmed Cassidy’s strong support, resources, and momentum, asserting he has the necessary backing to secure another term as Louisiana’s senior U.S. senator.
