Arizona Physical Therapist Burned Alive in Hyperbaric Chamber
Arizona Doctor Killed in Hyperbaric Chamber Fire
A tragic incident occurred at a medical facility in Arizona when a hyperbaric chamber caught fire, resulting in the death of Dr. Walter Foxcroft, 43. The fire ignited inside the oxygen therapy machine at his practice, Havasu Health and Hyperbarics, late Wednesday night, turning the chamber into a deadly trap.
Responders arriving at the scene found smoke already billowing from the building. Inside, they discovered Dr. Foxcroft’s charred body trapped within the burning chamber. Despite efforts to rescue him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Hyperbaric chambers are sealed devices used to treat various health issues by controlling oxygen and air pressure, aiding in recovery from conditions like cognitive decline and physical aging.
The reason why Dr. Foxcroft was inside the chamber during the late hours remains unclear.
Foxcroft, a graduate of the University of Arizona, was also known for his previous role as the university mascot, Wilbur T. Wildcat, during his college years. He later became Big Red for the Arizona Cardinals and was seen at Super Bowl XLIII in 2006 before returning to his studies and pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy at Touro University Nevada.
He established Havasu Health and Hyperbarics in 2024, which claims to be the first integrative naturopathic hyperbaric oxygen therapy center in Arizona. The facility is currently closed pending investigation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. This tragedy follows a similar earlier incident in Michigan, where a young boy died after a hyperbaric chamber explosion, leading to criminal charges against staff members.
