Trinity University Football Coach Still Searching for Daughter After Texas Flood

Search Underway for Missing Girl After Texas Floods

Knocking on every door and searching through debris, emergency responders continue their frantic efforts to locate Kellyanne, a young girl missing since severe flooding struck Central Texas. Kellyanne was last seen at Camp Mystic, a girls’ Christian summer camp, when floodwaters suddenly inundated her cabin, sweeping away multiple children and staff members.

Kellyanne’s father, Wade Lytal, the offensive coordinator for the Trinity Tigers football team, publicly pleads for help. He shared a heartfelt video of her performing solo at her elementary school Christmas pageant, highlighting her fearless nature: “I’ll never forget when she told me she had a lead solo… she is absolutely fearless.”

Rescue efforts involve over 400 first responders from various agencies, tirelessly searching for 11 girls—ages 8 and 9—and a counselor still unaccounted for. The flash flooding, triggered by a sudden storm that dumped more than a foot of rain, resulted in more than 850 rescues within 36 hours.

The floods have claimed at least 68 lives in Kerr County—the most affected area—and 12 additional fatalities across neighboring counties. Search and recovery teams continue to face challenging conditions, navigating toppled trees, overturned vehicles, and thick mud to recover victims.

Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha emphasizes that the search for missing individuals will persist until everyone is found. Authorities urge anyone with information about the missing to call 830-258-1111.

Among the recent victims are a high school soccer coach, his wife, and a well-loved teacher. The community mourns the loss of five girls from Camp Mystic and the camp’s owner, with officials declining to comment on whether emergency alerts and evacuation procedures were sufficient or timely. Rescue operations are ongoing amid dangerous obstacles, aiming to save more lives and recover the missing.
