Female Cyclist Refuses Podium with Trans Winner
Veteran Cyclist Speaks Out After Transgender Competitor Wins Race
Julie Cutts Peterson, a seasoned cyclist, explained her decision not to accept the medal during a recent race where she was second to transgender athlete Kate “KJ” Phillips. Peterson expressed her frustration, stating, “I did not want to race against a man,” adding that her comments at the finish line reflected her belief that men and women should be categorized separately based on biological differences.
Peterson highlighted her extensive experience racing with both men and women, noting that she recognized Phillips’ sprint as characteristic of male strength. She also pointed out that Phillips’ name was missing from the official registration list, which she believes was deliberate, as Phillips was registered months in advance but not disclosed before the event.
“We were not informed that he would be competing in our category,” Peterson said. Fellow athlete Debbie Milne confirmed this, stating she had checked the registration list before the race and found Phillips’ name was absent. Milne suggested the omission was intentionally deceptive and expressed regret that she might have changed her decision to attend if she had known.
Peterson emphasized her stance that transgender ideology lacks scientific support, asserting, “There is no amount of makeup, money, or marketing that can change that Y-chromosome, and that’s why we are taking a stand.”
USA Cycling responded to inquiries by providing their transgender eligibility policy, which requires a written declaration of gender identity. Peterson claims she has photographic evidence showing the registration list as of June 19th, indicating Phillips’ name was not visible, raising concerns about transparency and fairness in competitions.
