In a deadly shooting near downtown Indianapolis, two teenage boys lost their lives, and five others sustained injuries during a late-night incident. The police responded to reports of gunfire just before 1:30 a.m., arriving at the scene near Washington and Meridan Street, where gunshots were heard during their rush to the area.
At the scene, a 16-year-old boy was found deceased from gunshot wounds. Another victim, a 15-year-old boy, later died after being taken to the hospital. The remaining wounded, including a 17-year-old, two 19-year-olds, and a 21-year-old, were also hospitalized following the attack.
Law enforcement recovered multiple firearms at the scene and detained seven individuals for questioning. No arrests have been made yet, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
Authorities have identified the victims as teenagers aged 15 to 21. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with police continuing to gather evidence and assess the situation.

Police officials expressed frustration over the violence, with police chief Chris Bailey highlighting recent lawlessness in downtown Indianapolis. He criticized the reckless behavior across all age groups, describing it as “absolutely ridiculous” and emphasizing that no one should become numb to such violence.
Bailey also noted that recent weeks have seen increased disorder in the area, calling for a collective effort to curb the chaos. He urged the community to address the rising violence and ensure safety for all residents.
