Body Found in Turks and Caicos Amid Search for Missing Manhattan Man
The decomposed remains of a man have been discovered during an ongoing search for a New York resident who vanished last week while vacationing in Turks and Caicos. Authorities reported finding the body in the vicinity of Grace Bay, though it has not yet been confirmed if it belongs to the missing individual.
The missing man, identified as 51-year-old Brian Tarrence and a resident of Manhattan, was last seen three days after arriving on the island for a romantic anniversary trip with his wife. Security footage captured Tarrence leaving his Airbnb in Grace Bay around 3:30 a.m. on June 25.
His wife, who remains on the island, has enlisted a private investigator to assist in the search. Tarrence was found to have his cellphone and wallet when he left his rental, and authorities confirmed he was in a safe area at the time.
Private investigator Carl DeFazio, a former NYPD officer and US Marine, shared that efforts are underway to analyze Tarrence’s phone activity in an attempt to piece together his movements and potentially locate him alive. So far, no significant developments have been reported, but the investigation continues.
The U.S. State Department issued a travel advisory earlier this year due to rising crime rates on the island chain, including a significant increase in violent robberies and gun-related offenses. Despite these concerns, investigators have indicated that there is currently no evidence to suggest criminal activity is linked to Tarrence’s disappearance.
