Girl, 5, S:ho:t in Leg During Road Rage; Bullet Hits Her Sippy Cup

Child Wounded in Road Rage Shooting in North Carolina

A young girl was severely injured during a road rage incident in North Carolina, after a bullet struck her through the leg. The projectile was found lodged inside her sippy cup.

Charles Edward Stevenson Jr., aged 20, is accused of firing a single shot toward the girl’s father, who was driving a Ford F-150 on US Route 1 near Raleigh just before 8 p.m. on Monday. The bullet went through the girl’s right leg, prompting immediate medical attention.

The girl, identified as Ema, was rushed to hospital and underwent emergency surgery. Her family reports that she has since undergone multiple successful operations but is missing part of her leg. Despite the serious nature of her injury, her prognosis is optimistic, and she is expected to recover fully over the next four to six months.

The incident began when Ema’s father noticed Charles Stevenson Jr. driving erratically. He observed Stevenson tossing objects out of his vehicle, which ended up hitting the truck. After the father rolled down his window to confront Stevenson, the suspect fired a shot, hitting the vehicle and, unintentionally, the girl.

Stevenson faces serious charges, including assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and discharging a firearm into occupied property. Authorities continue their investigation into the reckless display of violence that could have had tragic consequences.
