Cops Reveal New Details on Sophia Hutchins’ Fatal ATV Crash

Death of Caitlyn Jenner’s Friend Sophia Hutchins in ATV Crash

Details have emerged about the tragic death of Sophia Hutchins, a close friend and longtime manager of Caitlyn Jenner, following a fatal ATV accident in Malibu.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that Hutchins was likely speeding when she rear-ended a moving vehicle, causing her to lose control and go off a cliff. Sergeant Eduardo Saucedo explained that she was not following the other car but appeared to have come up alongside it before the collision.

Hutchins was operating a blue ATV near Jenner’s residence when she collided with a gray 2016 Mazda 6. The impact launched her and the ATV down a 350-foot ravine, with emergency responders declaring her dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Footage from a news helicopter later showed the overturned ATV resting atop a damaged vehicle in the same area.

The incident occurred Wednesday, and Hutchins, 29, died from her injuries sustained in the crash. She was driving near Jenner’s condo in Malibu at the time.

The sheriff’s department noted that Hutchins attempted to maneuver around the Mazda but was going too fast and clipped its rear, leading to her veering off the road.

Following her friend’s passing, Jenner shared that she was going through a difficult period but chose not to comment further when approached for an interview during a recent outing.

Hutchins and Jenner first met through a mutual hairstylist in 2015—the same year Jenner publicly came out as transgender. Hutchins had previously mentioned that Jenner’s coming out inspired her own transition, and after two years, she moved in with Jenner and took on the role of her manager.
