Kyle Walker’s Heartfelt Farewell to Man City Amid Outcast Status Before £5m Burnley Move

Kyle Walker Transfers to Burnley After Leaving Manchester City

Kyle Walker has officially moved to Burnley for a fee of £5 million, ending his eight-year tenure at Manchester City. The 35-year-old defender signed a two-year contract with the Clarets after a brief stint at AC Milan.

Walker will reunite with Scott Parker, having played alongside him at Tottenham Hotspur for two years. His departure from City follows his exclusion from the squad for the FIFA Club World Cup, alongside fellow England international Jack Grealish, prompting him to seek a new club.

In a heartfelt Instagram message, Walker expressed his gratitude to Manchester City, including owners, manager Pep Guardiola, and fans. He highlighted the achievements and special memories he had at the club, stating:

“Seven-and-a-half years at a truly incredible place that will always be in my heart.”

He praised the club’s success, mentioning titles like the treble, multiple Premier League wins, and times of triumph shared with fans and teammates. Walker also thanked the staff and management, noting the profound impact they had on his career and personal life:

“It’s been an honor playing with legends and top players, and I believe the team can continue to achieve great things.”

Throughout his time at City, Walker won numerous trophies, including six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, the UEFA Super Cup, the Champions League, and the Club World Cup. His 319 appearances and contributions have cemented his legacy as one of the finest right-backs in Premier League history.

Despite a promising start at AC Milan, Walker’s stint in Italy was less successful, with Milan finishing eighth in Serie A and facing criticism in the press. His personal life also saw challenges, including family disputes and issues off the pitch.

With Burnley’s recent signings, including Loum Tchaouna, Axel Tuanzebe, Quilindschy Hartman, and Max Weiss, the club aims to strengthen ahead of their upcoming Premier League campaign. They are also in negotiations to sell goalkeeper James Trafford to Newcastle United.
