Maresca Bluntly Warns Madueke as Arsenal Near Deal with Chelsea Winger
Enzo Maresca Sends Clear Warning to Noni Madueke Amid Arsenal Interest
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has communicated a direct message to Noni Madueke amidst ongoing interest from Arsenal. The 23-year-old winger was a key player for Chelsea last season, making 41 appearances and contributing significantly to the squad’s efforts.
Madueke recently played as a second-half substitute in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Palmeiras in the Club World Cup quarter-final. While reports suggest Arsenal is close to finalizing personal terms with Madueke for a potential transfer, the player remains focused on the tournament and is open to the move.
Maresca emphasized the importance of player happiness, stating, “Noni has been very important for us, but my message to the players and the club is that I want only those who are happy to stay. Those who aren’t, are free to leave. Noni has performed well during the season.”
Despite his praise, Maresca hinted at the possibility of Madueke’s departure. Chelsea has bolstered their attack with new signings, including Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens.
Arsenal is also showing interest in other attacking talents, like Benjamin Sesko, Victor Gyokeres, and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, as they aim to strengthen their squad. Meanwhile, Maresca was asked about the potential signing of West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus, but avoided comment, noting only his familiarity with the player from Ajax.
If Madueke joins Arsenal, he would follow a line of Chelsea players who have transferred to Arsenal during Mikel Arteta’s tenure, including David Luiz, Willian, Jorginho, Kai Havertz, and Kepa Arrizabalaga.
