Chelsea’s New Star Estevao Willian Scores Stunning Goal Against His Future Team
Palmeiras Wonderkid Estevao Willian Scores Against Future Club Chelsea in Club World Cup
Estevao Willian, who is set to join Chelsea later this month, showcased his talent by scoring a remarkable goal against his new team during the Club World Cup on Friday night. Playing for Palmeiras before completing his transfer, the 18-year-old demonstrated his commitment to his current club with aggressive tackles in the first half.
In the second half, Estevao displayed his sharp goal-scoring instincts. Inside the penalty box, he received a pass, expertly controlled the ball with his left foot, then dribbled past Levi Colwill and powered a precise shot past goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, aiming for the near post from a tight angle.
This goal equalized the quarter-final at 1-1, after Chelsea opened the scoring through Cole Palmer in the 16th minute. However, Chelsea secured the victory with a late own goal from Gias, ending the match 2-1 in their favor.
After scoring, Estevao was seen applauding Palmeiras fans at full-time, highlighting his affection for his current team despite his upcoming move to Chelsea.
Estevao agreed to transfer to Chelsea last summer, with the deal valued at around £29 million. He gained recognition in Brazil’s top league with Palmeiras, tallying 13 goals and nine assists last season, earning him the title of ESPN Brazil’s Player of the Year at just 17, making him the youngest to receive this honor.
Known as one of the brightest emerging talents in world football, Estevao has already made five senior appearances for Brazil. His move to Chelsea will add to a growing South American presence at the club, which includes players like Andrey Santos, Joao Pedro, Moises Caicedo, Kendry Paez, and compatriot Enzo Fernandez.
