Coaches Fired After Streaking Incident at Youth Baseball Tournament
Two youth baseball coaches from Illinois were dismissed after video footage showed them streaking during a tournament in Cooperstown, New York.
The footage, which circulated online, captures the coaches removing their clothing under the stadium lights while their team, the Lake Bluff Youth Baseball Association’s 12U Blue team, was competing. One coach is seen sliding headfirst into home plate completely nude, drawing surprised laughter from the young players.
Children present reacted with shock, with one exclaiming, “Oh my God!” and another asking, “Is he naked?” It remains unclear why the coaches engaged in this stunt.
As a result, the team was immediately disqualified, and authorities from the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office were contacted. The youth league confirmed that both coaches have been dismissed and are facing an internal investigation.
Deputies responded to reports early Saturday morning when security reported two men refusing to leave the field. However, they had already departed by the time officers arrived, and subsequent police inquiries revealed that everyone involved had left town.
The footage was reviewed by the district attorney’s office, which decided against pursuing criminal charges due to the perceived level of criminality and the fact that all parties were out of state. It is also uncertain whether any of the coaches were parents of the players.
The youth league has not issued further comments on the incident.
