Hamas Targets Aid Workers and Spreads Disinformation About Civilians in Gaza

Hamas has been responsible for killing aid workers distributing food in Gaza, with credible reports indicating the organization has placed bounties on the security personnel of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), including Americans. At least 12 staff members of the group have been murdered, and Palestinians working with aid organizations have also been kidnapped or killed.

Despite these facts, many international and media outlets, including a recent accusation from a left-leaning Israeli newspaper, claim that Israel is deliberately shooting unarmed Gazans waiting for aid. Such assertions are false; the aid operations serve Israel’s interests by ensuring civilians in Gaza receive supplies without Hamas’s interference.

Israelis are risking their lives and expending military resources to protect civilians and facilitate aid delivery. In contrast, Hamas and its allies are actively fighting against the aid efforts and promote false narratives blaming Israel for civilian casualties, often through the Gazan Health Ministry, which Hamas controls. Historically, when the UN managed aid, Hamas stole supplies and used them for its benefit, selling or distributing only to supporters.

The GHF, backed by Israel and the United States, has successfully delivered over 52 million meals in just five weeks and remains the only aid group not looted by Hamas. Many international organizations and charities, including the UN, have called for the shutdown of the GHF, accusing it falsely of killing civilians. Some groups, such as Oxfam and longstanding anti-Israel organizations, oppose the aid group and seek to restore Hamas’s monopoly over aid distribution.

Hamas initiated this conflict by murdering 1,200 innocent civilians and is responsible for the ongoing food shortages. Groups demanding the end of the GHF may be inadvertently supporting Hamas’s control over Gaza’s resources.
