Zohran Mamdani’s Campaign: The NYC Mayoral Race Buzz Begins Early

New Book Chronicles Campaign of NYC Mayoral Candidate Zohran Mamdani

A new book about Zohran Mamdani’s successful campaign in the New York City Democratic primary is now available for pre-order, even though the candidate has yet to face his Republican opponent in the upcoming general election.

Titled Run Zohran Run!, the book was authored by Brooklyn-based academic Theodore Hamm and was released for presale on the same day Mamdani secured the Democratic nomination. This victory came after Mamdani’s impressive win over ex-Governor Andrew Cuomo and other contenders in June.

The book is priced at $18 in paperback and $10 for the e-book, with shipments scheduled for August, according to the publisher, OR Books. Hamm, who previously wrote a book on Bernie Sanders and his Brooklyn roots, states that he began work on this project in March and is finalizing the content.

Described as a compelling and timely account, Run Zohran Run! offers an inside look into Mamdani’s grassroots campaign that challenged longstanding political dynasties and brought a fresh, progressive voice to NYC politics. The cover features Mamdani alongside his family after his primary victory, highlighting the personal side of his political journey.

Hamm emphasizes that the book aims to document the primary process thoroughly, with potential updates if major events occur during the fall campaign. Despite some social media criticism about releasing the book before the November election, Hamm maintains that the focus is on capturing the primary’s essence, with future chapters possibly added later.
